Labels tell lies…

Know Your Whys

I guess, saying it’s apple isn’t quite clear enough.

My long time close friend, advisor, confidante, coach, partner, etc, Mark Kennedy, is “high performance” in several areas of his life.

His beautiful wife attests that he is a high performance husband …their two beautiful, grown daughters attest that he is a high performance dad.

Those of us who feel privileged to be in business with him know he is a high performance partner.

In sports, he is a high performance ultra runner and coach of high performance athletes in a variety of sports.

Believe it or not, this is never boring.

Mark has competed and continues to compete in and finish races of distances that just don’t make sense to 99.9% of the world’s population – one has a 50-50 as part of its label and which stands for 50 miles one day and then 50 kilometers the next day. He recently staged a charitable event where his goal was to run for 24 hours …it was publicized as him running 100 miles or 24 hours, whichever came first. The clock was the ultimate winner, but only by a small margin.

Those are just a few on the positive side of the high-performance label; and this brings us back around to the title of this little piece …Labels Tell Lies

Call them like you see them.

He is also considered a high-performance jerk by his first wife who, I suppose, had to have a not-so-positive impact on his three sons – who remain in a fairly close relationship with him, but aren’t as glowing as those of his daughters, in the labels they place on him.

I also know of a few former business associates who would add to his first wife’s label – arrogant, high performance jerk, and refuse to even consider having anything to do with any business with which he is connected.

Since I consider him one of my five closest personal friends, I can hardly be held accountable for not being objective – but I happen to believe a lot of Mark’s high performance comes from a sizeable amount of humility, which he covers very well by being a high performance, stubborn and aggressive, jerk at times.

Can change really happen?

The “know your whys” part of the title is Mark’s tag line for his articles and personal coaching advice.

Mark is proving his ability to be a high performance self-hacker in overcoming one of his admitted shortcomings – which will remain private for the moment. He has designed a video and audio technology that is rapidly changing the lives of several of his coaching clients and a couple of his business partners …I for one, who begged to be part of his beta testing before unveiling it to the market.

It’s having am IMMEDIATE “WOW” effect on several areas of my life!!!

The label, I helped produce, is “Powerful Mindset” and which he put on a brand new website, www.powerfulmindset.net that he put together to help promote his technology.

Some labels are valuable.

Let’s finish this by looking at labels from a different perspective. ALL labels are misleading, even those governed by law. Take food products that require cooking prior to eating – the law permits and even dictates that vitamin content in the raw ingredients be listed …without making it clear that the temperature required to cook to make it edible destroys up to 90% of some of the vitamin potency listed on the label. A lie!

Now to, “know your whys” …if you know the truth about what your body requires to function in optimum health, such labels will be laughable, but if you don’t know the truth, you will be deceived into thinking you are eating “healthy” when the label is actually meaningless.

It reminds me of something that actually came out of my mouth from behind a podium one time, “Making a study of ‘false cults’ is a waste of time. Saturating ourselves with the truth by operating in the presence and power of the source of universal creativity (a verb not a noun) and the false exhibits itself exactly for what it is, false AND laughable.”

…but that’s another topic for another time.
