What Jesus Is Teaching (Me) Today – 8

Getting Unstuck from Preconceived Notions

Sometimes you need some help to get unstuck.

“What difference does it make to you what other people think about me? I have told you that it doesn’t even make any difference about what you think about whom or what I am. Let me help you with this right now so that others will be helped as well.”

Jay’s interruption at this particular moment was interesting to say the least, as I was thinking about a book I had just finished reading written by a scientist by the name of Daniel Fry, Ph.D., the following is some background about Dr. Fry:

Current

  • ISS Radiation System Manager at NASA Johnson Space Center
  • Physical Scientist / Space Weather at NASA Johnson Space Center
  • Adjunct Professor of Physics at University of Houston Clear Lake

Past

  • Postdoctoral Research Scientist at National Institute of Standards and Technology

Can I have these kind of new teeth?

The book was about Dr. Fry’s (a prominent physicist, no less) experience with a fellow who had introduced him to the fact that God fills teeth! The book is free and downloadable and filled with documented testimonials, not only from people who had received totally repaired teeth, but from dentists!

How and why I came to download the book and read it is not germane at the moment. Frankly, I was slightly bored with it, after all, within this body-bag I occupy beats a new heart …and at going on ninety, as I am often wont to say, I ran seven miles this very morning not in what anyone might call record-breaking time, but in a total of eighty-six minutes and twenty-two seconds. This, I would venture to say, is something 99% of the world’s population is unable to do in any amount of time and at any age, and one might add that the reason 99% are unable is that they probably have far more sense than Brad Cullen(?).

You can have one too, just ask Source.

I’m not bragging, but it is the truth and I’m certainly not bragging about a new heart that was a gift from God; this in 1989 after I had been told I would never qualify for life insurance again in any amount and shortly thereafter was approved for a half-million dollar policy, insisted upon by investors, to fund a buy and sell agreement to cover a business in which I was a principal – my two associates  were in their forties and who were rated “standard” and I was rated “preferred risk,” due to perfect health (I was 56 at the time) and at a much reduced premium.

The point is that the reason the book I referenced above was somewhat boring to me is that I don’t need to read though reams of testimonials attesting to people having their rotten teeth filled and straightened to prove to me that God is still in the “miracle” business. I see seeming “miracles” daily and I am a living miracle …if you care to view it in that way.

What did excite me about the book is that the fellow, who was the object of Dr. Fry’s treatise, had a path similar to my own and came to the same (oops) conclusions I arrived at: He didn’t profess to know how God did it, he just knew that when he got into a particular zone (my terminology) that God did the work and he couldn’t explain it beyond that …yep, that’s how I would put it.

He broke through into that “zone” initially via the same route I took – much fasting and prayer.

Fasting’s not really like this, it’s much easier with help from Source.
Jay just encouraged me to share the foregoing details, and then he surprised me, what else is new? He said, “stop soft-peddling your experience relative to fasting; say what it is – that is, your experience and what it did for you and then I am going to take you in a direction that will allow some people to get beyond their judgments, conclusions and insistence upon stating their particular viewpoint about who and what I am, forgetting all the details of their particular dogma and getting to the essence of what I AM all about and always have been.”

Back in the late 1980s I was doing a word-study in a Greek New Testament of the passage referenced below, in preparation for sharing with a group about what I had begun to express as “miracle-working” or “results-getting” faith.

The first thing to see, if we are to take this passage and its subject seriously, is that when somebody experiences physical death, it is inappropriate to say that “God took her or him home.” Physical death is not a reward, neither is it a penalty …it is simply something almost everyone assumes we must experience and therefore accepts and expects as a “normal” part of life …how about you?

What underlined this in my mind was that the word in the original language translated as “pleased” (God) literally meant accessed the power of God. “Enoch had gotten close to God and thereby began to draw power from Him” is how we can legitimately; literally and accurately express the message from the original language of the text.

Fasting always leads to this...when done in partnership with Source.

As the enormity of this hit me, I got up from the desk and began to pace. I was in the middle of a several day period of going without any food …ingesting water only, nothing else.

I bring this up for a number of reasons – none of which is to promote fasting in any legalistic or ritualistic sense and certainly not for any self-aggrandizement. Primarily I want to say that the realization of that kind of faith which, at that moment, I began to call “the faith of Enoch” was rather scary.

One of the “natural” side effects of fasting is a tendency to mildly hallucinate. It is the reason that some scholarly types believe that some of the things Jesus experienced while on his rather famous forty day fast were hallucinations.

I began asking Daddy if I was off my rocker for what I was seeing in this passage and received further revelation, confirmation and encouragement that I was on the right track.

I know personally of no individual who has broken through into this kind of results-getting faith, who hasn’t learned the lesson of being able to go without food for long periods without any long-term negative effects.

Enjoy some Spirit food anytime.

Many people say the sex drive is the most powerful human motivator. I say the drive to eat, appetite, tops sex by a whole bunch. Eating and our focus on food and diet is one of the strongest holds that this 3rd dimension, “reality world” has on us; but once someone understands, by experience, what Jesus meant by saying “I have food you know nothing about” and begins to draw on the power of God for sustenance, food loses its importance and a whole new “reality” is opened up to her or him.

Remember what I am not saying here: I am not saying that we please God by fasting; that kind of thinking is how fasting gets turned into ritualistic or legalistic …and thus meaningless nonsense. Fasting was simply the easiest way (for me) to remove the obstacles that had kept me from getting past all “natural” human appetites and to overcome the fear of pursuing the depths of God.

Here’s the passage: “By faith Enoch was taken away so that he did not see death, ‘and was not found, because God had taken him’ for, before he was taken he had this testimony, that he pleased God. But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.”

What I was shown and what Jay is instructing me to share is that the “without faith” is referring to the faith with which God rewards those who diligently seek after him, knocking and demanding for more faith, UNTIL they get it, with exactly that …MORE – to the point that physical death is no longer an expectation as inevitable.

Let’s get into personal dialogue about this for you – if, that is, it strikes a chord in you.

Where Jay is taking me next is oh so exciting and hopefully I can articulate it appropriately so that it is meaningful to you – that’ll be in: What Jesus Is Teaching (Me) Today – 9 and, as I intimated earlier what he showed was very surprising to me. See you there.
