Integration of the Mind – Part Twenty-Six
So Then, If Not All Over …Where Do We Start?
One of the biggest mistakes people make and which caused me to continually be going “back to the drawing board” was trying to figure out how something needed to be done.
If it is true that the subconscious part of our minds is far more, INFINITELY more, powerful (and the reason scientific researchers into the mind so often refer to it as the creative part of the mind) than the conscious part – and depending upon which source you look at …the lowest I’ve found is that the subconscious has the ability to process is some 11 million bits of information per second and the highest for the conscious mind is only 50 bits per second – do the math, the differential is over two million to one. Subconscious wins, hands down.
Figuring out HOW to do something, therefore …which is a process of the conscious mind and certainly not unimportant when it gets down to certain practical aspects of accomplishment, is nonetheless depending upon the least potent part of my mind. Utter foolishness to waste time trying to figure out how to do something with the conscious mind when we have a vast storehouse of information and the equipment to process it all within the subconscious – all we need to do is learn to engage it, wouldn’t you agree?
It is here, that we may want to remind ourselves that there are four primary, yet divergent points of view that relate to the human mental process. If we only look at the percentage differential between the processing capability of the conscious vs. the subconscious, we may well get locked into the thought that the mind within is all-encompassing; this is a prevalent view among those who do not believe in an intelligence beyond what is contained in the human mind. That’s the first point of view.
At the other end of this four-view spectrum, within which there can be many subsets, we have those who believe there is a Supreme Intelligence which controls everything and the height of man’s ability to use the mind is simply to be in tune with the “will of God” by whatever other term.
A third point of view, the one toward which I currently lean, is that within the mind of these body-bags we occupy is a super-consciousness which some refer to as the “higher self” which is the part of the human mind that is the connector between supreme intelligence and the more limited, albeit when fully integrated, very powerful human mind.
This third view, complete with my personal current subset comes from something I discovered in the Bible …in the New Testament Gospel according to John, he quotes Jesus as saying in three different ways that the SPIRIT-PARENT (my favorite term and which many who tend to be religious refer to as the “Holy Spirit,” others the “Presence of God” others the “Inner Teacher” …which is the meaning of “intuition”) would be sent to us to lead, guide and teach us all truth.
It is when I stumbled across these three separate passages that a bright light switched on for me. I interrupt this broadcast for this important message:
“SOW THIS SEED OF TRUTH INCLUDING THE REFERENCE.”
In another book within the New Testament, Hebrews, something is also repeated three times in slightly different ways – “If, today, you will listen and hear the voice of the Holy Spirit who says” …the first thing that hit me about this was that it was a confirmation of what John said he was quoting Jesus saying …the second thing that hit me and with which I began hitting, at the time, fellow Christians over the head, was that this passage clearly was NOT saying, if you will read the Bible it will lead you into all truth – it clearly WAS saying, “If you will listen and hear the SPIRIT today!
Of course, during that period of expressing the inner arguments buzzing around my consciousness, I hastened to say, but I got this truth from the Bible.
The more I became practiced at listening and hearing the more I became guided toward listening to what other people who didn’t share my, at the time, Christian beliefs …and found if I would listen to our SPIRIT-PARENT and ask if what these others were saying were truth for me, I would have an entirely new and broadened vista that they were getting truth too. Some of these “others” insisted that what they were getting was from “intuition” – well, we know that the word means inner teacher; “Is this YOU?” I would ask and be guided to the part of what they were saying that was true for me.
I urge you at this point, to not get embroiled in argument about something I’m saying here that you find doesn’t mesh with your current thought processes, but engage TRUTH for yourself.
If it is more comfortable for you to call it “intuition” than SPIRIT-PARENT, it is perfect because, from my point of view about this third point of view is that we each are “hard wired” differently and we filter and interpret things differently because of our own individual DNA, experience, cultural and religious background.
So then, whatever labels we put on different parts of our minds and the MIND that this third view sees as beyond or outside ourselves, these labels are all saying that we each need to know, for ourselves, individually, what is the truth for “me.”
The fourth point of view is what I have been growing or, if you prefer, shrinking into and that is none of it matters, because the more I realize that I don’t know squat, the more I realize all intellectual (human) wisdom gets swallowed up by TRUTH in the end. Instead of the Bible being the source for that bit of homespun truism it was science that led me there. The realization that new scientific knowledge was continually replacing old scientific knowledge and often even rendering parts of the old science which was revered as something akin to being sacred and holy …into being proven false!
With that …we leave #26 and move on. About what is coming next …I don’t know squat, but I know how to tune into WHO/WHAT does for me. Hope you’ll join me in #27.
