LESSON TWENTY-FOUR: “Hey Brad, What Do You Believe About”
This series has probably prompted more e-mail response than we’ve seen for years. I so appreciate the response. The tone of several of these e-mails matches this excerpt from one that came in this a.m.
“Brad, would you mind answering what you believe specifically about Jesus? You seem to hint at several possibilities. For example in one of your recent posts you mentioned Hebrews 13:8, which I showed my husband over breakfast this morning – we both became Christians shortly after our marriage in 2004 and since then have become quite disenchanted with the entire church scene. We find ourselves quite attracted to the things you have to say. Both of us were amazed because neither of us had ever seen or heard of that verse before. John said, I wonder what Brad really believes about Jesus, and here we are asking.”
My usual response to any question relative to what I believe or think about anything is, what difference does it make what I believe or think? NONE! …yet, so many are asking that it seems time to give a direct answer.
If we can accept that Jesus is alive and well and the “same” NOW as he has been from the beginning, which is a concept that was not easy for me; until the personal revelation as to what John was saying in the first chapter of his Gospel. Starting with “In the beginning” it become quite clear to me that according to this Jew, again, John, …the Creative Spirit part of the Elohiym that created the universe and everything in it became a man …all man. Who lived on this planet and experienced what it means to be a man. Before this Creative SPIRIT became a man HE/IT/SHE created everything. The man, Jesus, was not the one who started everything off with a big bang or otherwise.
Obviously, to me, therefore, Jesus the man is not to what or whom the verse (Hebrews 13:8) is making reference, but rather the SPIRIT who spoke “through” Jesus and the one to whom Jesus gave all the credit as related to the miracles attributed to Jesus and the words he spoke “are not my words, but the ‘Father’ in me, the works and words are His.” This latter quote, a rather horrid English translation, but one which Christendom has foisted on the world; unfortunately and from a variety of perspectives it is “horrid.”
Here are the words SPIRIT spoke to me through the living presence of Jesus just several days ago which I claim to have transcribed directly; in other words, it is not “I,” Joyce, who is answering your question, but what I have “transcribed”. . .
Who am I, who are you? This is a universal lesson for everyone who has the ears to hear it; note that I did not say to you it is “universal truth,” for that can only be defined when everyone hears it as such. Rejected truth is not truth for the person who is rejecting it and that needn’t be hard to understand.
Who and what I, Jesus, am “really” is revealed to each one who comes to me earnestly in SPIRIT AND TRUTH.
That is the essence, not only of this first lesson, but this entire book. Will the real Jesus please stand up? I AM in and of every person who comes to me willing to leave their preconceived notions behind and drink of me and breathe of me and, thus, yes, BE me.
If the Jew who comes to me needs me to be “the Jewish Messiah,” I AM that. If the Christian who comes to me needs me to be the “only begotten Son of God,” I AM that. If the Muslim who comes to me needs me to be a brother prophet to my dearly beloved brother Muhammad, I AM that. To those, whatever they choose to call themselves, who come to me need me to be one of many “Ascended Masters,” I AM that and without further distinction.
Did I not die so that they all could live? Quibbling over their silly notions of who I “really” am is counter-productive to the purpose for which I entered this physical plane …that purpose was not to die, but to live in each and every one of you …to be you and for you to be me.
If you will digest this much you will understand and be changed by the lessons that follow. If you insist on arguing over distinctions related to your limited understanding you will make your learning difficult when it is my purpose to make it simple and easy.
After his gentle admonishment I asked and got the “green light” to share the following which reveals a bit more of what “Brad believes.”
FUNDAMENTAL CONCEPTS… (?)
“The scientist makes use of a whole arsenal of concepts which he imbibed practically with his mother’s milk; and seldom if ever is he aware of the eternally problematic character of his concepts. He uses this conceptual material, or, speaking more exactly, these conceptual tools of thought, as something obviously, immutably given something having an objective value of truth, which is hardly even, and in any case not seriously, to be doubted.
“In the interests of science it is necessary over and over again to engage in the critique of these fundamental concepts, in order that we may not unconsciously be ruled by them.”
– Albert Einstein
Frankly, I had to read the foregoing two paragraphs several times before I could digest exactly what Einstein was saying. Here one of the greatest intellects ever to make his presence known, at least in the realm of science, is insisting that the only way the methods of science for finding truth can be effective is to continually bring fundamental concepts into question so as not to be UNCONSCIOUSLY ruled by them.
Of all the things that never cease to amaze me are the parallels between science and religion in regards to the fact that both are governed by men that fail (using the words of Einstein here) to critique fundamental concepts and therefore are ruled by them rather than getting to objective truth.
I have previously shared the fact that my life has been dramatically and dynamically changed via one simple prayer…
“Daddy/Mommy/Spirit, remove any preconceived ideas that keep me from being ever increasingly controlled by You.” That simple utterance has been the basis for my questioning everything. Scooping up, so to speak, all the interpretations I have placed on any number of what I previously considered to be fundamental and unalterable principles and placing them before my one and only perfect Daddy/Mommy/Spirit for examination and correction.
My challenge to anyone ready to listen, therefore, has not been to “buy in” to my pet doctrines, but to place their own pet theologies in front of our SPIRIT-PARENT for examination and critique. Life has become far simpler. Instead of mentally wrangling over some obscure passage that some reader has sent me as a “proof text” to under-gird his or her point, or to fire back with my own proof text… I simply realize that our SPIRIT-PARENT has all the answers and that I can come to HER/HIM/IT in “spirit and truth” because HE/SHE/IT is always available.
But then if everything is brought into question we may find ourselves going into: A Totally Different Perspective – Guaranteed…
- How much of what I know is useful?
- In what way is it useful?
- What are the primary criteria for adjudging if something is “useful” or not?
- Does what I know contribute to, or distract me from my purpose in life?
- Is what I am doing at this very moment contributing to, or distracting me from my purpose in life?
- Note: If I don’t know what my purpose is for living – I will find the above questions of little value.
- How can I know my purpose for life?
- Does my purpose for living simply revolve around knowing what my purpose is?
- What if I AM?
If true that I AM – there is no need to search further. Just declare it and live with it. Amen brother. Wake up, take up thy bed and walk! At the very least stop sleep walking.
Jesus said, “Before there was an Abraham, I AM.”
The same phrase stated by God to Moses when Moses asked the VOICE in the burning bush what he was to say to the Children of Israel about who had sent him… And the VOICE said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM.” And then said, “Thus you shall say to the children of Israel, “I AM has sent me to you.”
Why Jesus could say, “Before there was an Abraham, I AM.” It wasn’t Jesus saying it… it was our SPIRIT-PARENT in him …and, as I am so fond of saying, I DIDN’T SAY THAT, JESUS SAID IT!
This body bag that people see is not I AM. Our SPIRIT-PARENT living in this body bag is I AM. I let Him do the talking… and in this case, writing,
I AM…
In Freedom,
Brad
