What Jesus Is Teaching me Today; …Right NOW (5)

LESSON FIVE: “Above All, Be Skeptical of What You Know”

Are you quite sure I should be skeptical?

“What makes that so important,” I asked, although I sensed what he was getting at …because what he has been teaching me recently is that I need to bring every thought under his control and he was teaching vividly this morning was that the dangerous traditions that lurk in my mind are those that keep me bound up in the traditions imposed upon me by others.

“Am I to be skeptical of all things that I know?”

Unless you are skeptical of what it is you think you know, how can you learn what it is I have to teach you? By being skeptical I AM saying to engage in pure skepticism of what you believe to be true, that is, question it to see if it should be ruling your thoughts and actions.

To say that his words were a bombshell to me is an understatement of rather large proportions. I am reeling! It is easy to understand that what blocks science from learning new things are old “scientific principles” that get in the way. Some primary examples of that, of course, are the “truths” uncovered by Isaac Newton. They were groundbreaking truth for the time (two hundred years ago), but some who refer to themselves as scientists have used those truths to impede their own understanding of some of the truths others uncovered.

Einstein’s discoveries led to a whole new scientific perspective. Certain “laws” that were newly established in the early 20th century in the, then, fresh light given off by “Relativity” needed to be questioned in order to see that these “laws” have glaring exceptions in order to move on to the next new “truth” which, in some cases, proves the old “truth” to be flawed.

Captivating thoughts requires a lot of practice, start today.

How I am applying this to me, right now, and what makes it so significant is that for years I have heeded the scriptural “bringing every thought captive to Christ” as being related to spiritual warfare, a battle, the existence of which so many resist on the basis of their “discovery” that there is no “evil” and, further, no grand-master-perpetrator of “evil.

I understand and even share a commonality with their perspective, but the blind spots to the either mentality is easily overcome when we don’t try to desperately hold on to one or the other and claim for either an exclusive truth status. Jesus is teaching me here and now that I need to question what I think I know on both ends of that spectrum.

For me that ends all arguments …bringing EVERY thought into captivity; both those hidden away in the subconscious under the guise of “knowledge” and the “new” thoughts which could be coming at me as “fiery darts” (or to put it in another frame, “explosive missiles” from an unseen enemy.

Publishing chief executive, Ryan Bruce, called me yesterday to discuss an obvious (to us) interference that was being brought about by an intent that did not originate from SPIRIT, rather from a “spirit” that was in opposition. We recognize it because of our joint experience …which is “knowledge.”

Sometimes you have to ask what now. Better yet, ask always.

We also recognize how to overcome it for “good” – not by resorting to actions born in thought, but engaging SPIRIT and asking what now?

If I, Brad Cullen, and dear friend and publisher, Ryan Bruce, tell you that we got an answer we don’t expect you to believe that our answer is universal truth because it isn’t. What we received to do was truth for that moment and for us …not for you (necessarily).

In this current series, “What Jesus Is Teaching Me Today,” the temptation is to revert to kind and style – that is, to put it into the framework of my own experience and knowledge.

I’m being shown something from the past that Jesus is reiterating (to me) today:

What is all that to you? Just keep coming to I AM!

…oh, perhaps there is no need to reframe “Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever” (?)

Oh yes there is, if you think of who I AM from one perspective and not considering that I AM multidimensional, you will be a blind person leading those who also cannot see that there is far more to be experienced if they intend to escape their self-imposed limitations.

In Freedom,

Brad
