Another call from Ryan (sigh, well, after all, he is the publisher), but I do want to make it known that this chapter is a departure from what I promised in the last chapter (27) we’ll get back to what I promised later; maybe in #29.
I must admit, also, that what Ryan brought up was very important. Okay, about the above title: As everyone knows, the generally accepted definition of “caveat emptor” is “buyers beware.” After talking with Ryan, I had intended to call this (his suggested section), “Warnings and Caution, Danger Ahead!”
When I asked, to make sure, “Caveat Emptor” came rather forcibly into my consciousness. I felt nudged to do a little historic research on this Latin term and saw that it was more fitting than “Warnings and Caution, Danger Ahead” because it was more far reaching than a simple caution to somebody who was considering buying something.
What Ryan suggested I cover in this chapter came out of an hour long phone conversation with him during which I confirmed his concern as being definitively warranted.
I tend to be glib about something and never say anything cautionary related to the fact that there are many valid methods and paths by which to obtain spiritual healing. I repeatedly insist that the “Brad Cullen approach” to things is certainly not the “only” way – and rarely provide any warnings about alternatives.
Something I had written recently triggered in Ryan the feeling that he needed to go directly to the SOURCE and work through a number of issues in his life.
"A double minded man is unstable in all his ways." = failure dead ahead!
What he received, through much praying about it, was that some blocks or obstacles to accessing power from the 4th Dimension could not be overcome by simply repeating over and over some simple “mantra,” is the term he used, particularly if there was a conflict or “double mindedness” involved.
He used an example which I have often given of why I won’t go through the process of helping somebody to be healed unless and until I know they really want it rather than some hidden agenda; my given reason is quite simple: Until the conflict is resolved no healing will take place – or more problematic, it could make things worse! This latter is especially true if at the root of the disease or illnesses are spirit-agents at work.
He pointed out the importance of my insistence of making the emphatic precursor declaration of wanting “God’s will unto death” and what that really means.
He had just been shown about some of the issues in his life, which he wanted to overcome, that he needed to go much deeper than just repeating over and over something in slogan fashion.
He then explained that he had been told that to merely keep repeating something like I have shared, “I am in and of the will of God, Your presence and power are upon me; I have and want nothing else and no other thought or feeling shall have a permanent place in me” …without being willing and wanting to “die” to anything and everything else, just won’t work. Worse yet it left strongholds that could increase the intensity of the issues.
"Not my will, but Your will be done"...even unto death.
It was at this point that I resisted somewhat, saying that I wouldn’t necessarily agree, completely, with that any more than I would disagree with what he had just said prior.
I pointed out that what is always needed is to get illumination directly from our SPIRIT-PARENT whom had just told him that he had to go “deeper” …and so, for him I totally agreed!
We’re almost to the point of the caveat emptor, before you “buy in” to any of this. But first, we need to clear up something. I had also just told him something I hadn’t shared with him before and I’m not sure I’ve ever written about it previously – when he heard it is when he said, “That needs to be covered” and intimated it needed to be in this chapter.
…And I confirmed it, INDEED!
What triggered his remarks was, he said, “Daddy told me that to not to put some of these conflicts to ‘death’ was to leave the subconscious vulnerable to all sorts of unwanted and dangerous influences.”
I told him that what he was saying was one of the reasons that my psychiatrist side-kick began to refuse to use hypnosis – something that he occasionally used during therapy with certain patients. I had been to some training sessions with him at continuing education workshops.
One that I remember vividly was presented by a couple of anesthesiologists in San Diego – they used hypnosis rather than any chemicals, almost exclusively, although sometimes in tandem with chemically-induced unconsciousness to render a patient “out” for surgery.

Some of their demonstrations were nothing short of amazing; almost supernatural seeming. We came away from that weekend with several scientific papers on the subject …mostly geared for psychotherapy since the training was sponsored by the American Psychiatric Association affiliate of the A.M.A.
Jim and I had hours of discussion in the days during and following that weekend trip to San Diego and we were both excited about the possibilities of hypnosis – so I was a bit surprised when he mentioned, almost a year later that he was no longer using hypnosis.
When I questioned him about it he told me that he felt Spirit was directing him away from its use …for the very same reasons Ryan told me yesterday, but that was over twenty years ago!
The reason, again, is that a person’s subconscious is vulnerable to dangerous influences, from the “dark side” (if we want to use that term).
What I feel led to say, here and now, is that it is unwise for anyone to allow themselves to be put under hypnosis (or the influence of anything or anybody unless directed by our SPIRIT-PARENT …that sounds esoteric, but let’s look at one dictionary definition of the word:

That means you will be one of that “small number” if you tell our SPIRIT-PARENT you want HER/HIS/ITS will unto death.
Now perhaps you understand why I was reluctant to agree generally with Ryan in the way he interpreted what he received and which I totally agree was for him.
What, again, is the primary criterion? Being connected to our SPIRIT-PARENT …we could say that if you aren’t sure about that ask our SPIRIT-PARENT to give you clarity. Keep asking (demanding) UNTIL you have clarity.
Stop fighting, there is only ONE.
I said it before and I will say it again, here and now: Pay no attention to any human being including Brad or Ryan if what is being said is contrary to what you get for YOU!
The essence of what Jesus said – we have only ONE Teacher, Leader and Father – and it is decidedly not any other human being, no matter how exalted by men, whether by degrees, reputation or ordination. We are to be as brothers and sisters to one another (period).
Now then, Ryan (Mr. Publisher) may I get back to the question which was to be the centerpiece for this chapter?
