Linking Instead of Thinking

Brad Cullen

I’m a Johnny-come-lately to some of the terminology of computers, brought into it kicking and screaming – it was well into the 1990s before I finally gave up using my IBM Selectric for any writing forever. It was in 1996 that I was forced (by simple economic considerations) to begin using e-mail for the majority of personal and business communication rather than long distance telephone. It wasn’t that I hadn’t been introduced and somewhat familiar with word processing (in the late 1970s and to e-mail in the late 1980s) …it’s just that old habits die hard …coupled with international travel, made relying on the telephone no longer a viable way of operating.

So it was that most people got way ahead of me and still are. Recently, because things weren’t moving rapidly enough for my taste in a business venture, I put together my first web-site for commercial purposes to be used as an adjunct to go along with a telephone and e-mail sales campaign for a client – after struggling with the website, I finally achieved exactly what I wanted for the purpose for which it was being used.

I want it NOW! OK Brad, keep your pants on!

I had built my first website, “ministry of spirit” back in 2000 – several months after Gary Sigler (https://siglerministries.org) had so graciously put some of my writings on a website he put together for me on his “Kingdom Resources” …but just as with my recent impatience, when he was unavailable due to his many other responsibilities, I wanted something posted NOW …and therefore “ministry of spirit” put together by yours truly was born and it wasn’t all that bad.

I now think that I’m somewhat of an expert (albeit slow and still more than a little challenged in the technical arena) for putting together websites (for the limited informational purposes I want to use them) and, again, solely as an adjunct to phone and e-mail for sales and marketing, not for use as a direct, Internet marketing tool; which continues to be way over my head so no – thank you, very much – I’m not an expert at that …and simply continue getting “bright ideas” by resorting to continually asking SPIRIT “what now.”

As most of you know, Ryan Bruce, the CEO of the publishing company which publishes Brad Cullen books also volunteered to donate his own time and money to produce the website www.spiritualhealingsource.com and I can’t even figure out how to navigate “my own” website.

You may think that’s false humility – it isn’t. I do try to say that the reason for my lack in the technical department is due to laziness, or perhaps lack of interest …but it seems to go much more deeply than that. I just seem to have a hard time processing some of this stuff.

Seems pretty simple. Just don't eat the bubbles Brad.

Now then, in the most recent (just the last several days) foray into constructing two more websites (with lots of help on the phone from calling “technical support” persons who keep saying to me that my questions are covered quite adequately in the guide they had sent me previously and to which such remarks I respond just a bit assertively and say: “look, I’ve read the guide several times and for whatever reason it seems like it is written in Chinese or some other tongue for which I do not have the gift of interpretation …so please just help me through this, okay?) . . .

Something finally clicked for me – “links,” “hyperlinks” and “anchors” and how much like my brain they are. We’ve been hearing for years that our brains are just like computers …and, in fact, so “they” say, well at least some of “them” say, that computers will never be able to think as well as we humans do, humph, they’ve never met some of my relatives!

Anyhow, I have long found it easy to click on a link on some Internet article which takes me flying to something else that captures my interest …simple, right? Yeah, well, trying to master the art of inserting “links” into a website currently undergoing my finishing touches, which proved to be a daunting task until the above referenced “something clicked” came clearly into view.

An anchor in a storm can break the ship. Use with caution.

Before “links” will work they have to be “anchored” to a page, phrase, picture or word. In other words I have to decide in advance what the “anchor” is to which I want to “link” and make the “anchor” the objective FIRST…and then inserting the “link” properly becomes a somewhat simple task.

All the above for this: I’ve been in the training business …writing instruction manuals and facilitating workshops and seminars for years, beginning when I first got into “management” in the 1950s while still in my twenties and then going into the training business.

It started when I wanted employees to do something in a particular way I found that, for me, the most effective way to communicate was by writing out what I wanted and then having a discussion around what I had written and getting input from the employees so that they not only had a “say” in the decision-making process, but I found that their contributions were often a far more practical approach to the problem I was trying to solve then what I had written.

Hence a system of “training” was born and I was later able to successfully market it to several large corporations.

Today, over fifty years later, I now understand why the system worked so well. I also understand why so many people have a hard time “grasping” what I have been given to write about spiritual things when absent a discussion with the “audience” after they read what I have written. The training system required discussion and participation of those being “trained” and the interaction with the “trainer” who wasn’t hung up on his own methods, but was forced to accept input from the “trainees” and TOGETHER we came up with solutions that worked for them and for management.

How many "predetermined" links do you have?

Now then – “links” don’t work unless there is a predetermined object, an “anchor” to which the “link” sends us. Well, duh, you say about my intellectual dullness, but hey, I’m learning.

That I get rather impatient with people who don’t “get” what I’m trying to say whether orally or in writing is an illusion. I am continually frustrated by the human tendency in which we are ALL trapped …and I am holding my right hand aloft in a silent statement that I am guiltiest of the guilty in this regard …and that is, HEARING WHAT PEOPLE SAY, BUT NOT UNDERSTANDING because as soon as they use particular word I immediately put my own definition to it. In other words, the word they are using is a “link” to a preconception in the brain of this body-bag I occupy (and which body I contend that I am not) and I’m off in my own world.

Ryan and I “catch” this in each other all the time …creating all kinds of miscommunication …fortunately we both have a similar purpose to which we are “linked” …and that purpose is a constant and continual connection to our SPIRIT-PARENT …whenever we seem to be disagreeing we both know enough to remind each other to ask “what now” and neither of us are offended by the fact that we often get seemingly different answers from the same SOURCE.

The reason we are both comfortable with the difference is that we realize we each process things differently. Ryan is a voracious reader of all sorts of different topics and he has the ability to retain (or at least that’s how it seems to me) much of what he reads. I tend to immediately forget what I’ve read, but trust that those things which are important to my purpose will come to mind when needed to learn something which is “new” to me.

Stay at Love or Above...try it, just for one day.

So it is with “links” and “anchors” – one such recently acquired “anchor” is a slogan promoted by Christie Marie Sheldon “Love and Above” making reference to a table of “vibrations” that are scientifically proven to affect everything in our physical universe including our emotional and intellectual states as human beings and that far more than we realize.

Christie Marie’s video (the link provided below) provides a graphic illustration of just how powerfully our emotional reactions and underlying attitudes affect these vibrations.

NOTE: Ryan and I have made a joint and conscious decision not to link to any websites that have commercial offerings, as we simply do not want to get sidetracked with offers of “affiliate commissions,” so when we include links to particular information that we think may be valuable to “our” audience, please understand that it is simply because the site had merely something to offer which had a positive effect on both of us personally. In other words, the link to Christie Marie Sheldon’s site will be making attempts to sell you some of her programs – and that’s okay, but you’re on your own with regard to purchasing anything, as we endorse NOTHING and try never to urge upon anyone anything except a direct connection with SPIRIT – and in this video she introduces a rather interesting approach to do exactly that.

http://www.awesomenessfest.com/blog/christie-marie-sheldon-change-your-reality/ will take you to a video of about-thirty minute duration. From which emerged a new slogan for daily living, for me, continually repeated, “living at love and above” with rather amazing results and power over some attitude and thought patterns with which I have struggled during my eighty plus years.

A personal endorsement from Brad is like money in the bank...NOT REALLY.

So the foregoing “note” is a personal endorsement, limited to my experience from what I have gleaned from watching this thirty minute video three times in its entirety and referred often to several brief sections  …Ryan has also reported differences that the video has created in him. Not everyone is enamored with Christie Marie’s video, but as I have said so often …I’m merely a beggar sharing with other beggars where I was able to find bread that was good for me.

All I can tell you is that by “linking” continually to “love and above” is something that I am assured was a gift from our (your and my) SPIRIT-PARENT, for me, and which I received gratefully. If it isn’t for you, I understand completely …and again, what I have been “anointed” to share, as a “voice crying out in the wilderness,” is to go directly to the SOURCE which isn’t Christie Marie Sheldon or any other “guru” or esteemed teacher in the “personal development” field. By going directly – you’ll be given what works for you – which this old man hastens to say may well be through some personal development person or their system.

I am given instructions as to what to say and do and from which hundreds of people have been healed of all sorts of human conditions including mental and physical “disease” …again, the disclaimer I’ve been given is that this writer is NOT a healer …I simply have been shown how to be a vessel for the HEALER AND TEACHER who lives in those who are ready to receive and then move on to continue to receive directly in their own way and own time – “linking” to the ULTIMATE “ANCHOR” instead of to Brad Cullen or any other human intermediary or system – “linking, instead of thinking.”

Nuff Sed,

b
