Would You Believe …I’m going on 95?

If you prefer your own perception of reality, almost three weeks ago I celebrated my 89th birthday which means I’m just embarking on my 90th year chronologically.

89 or 95, does it really matter?

I just realized while shaving earlier that this nonsense about my age began at age 13 when I officially started my career as a professional musician (meaning I was getting paid for playing an instrument) in a “dive” called Pearl’s Inn, in Hayward, California.

I had to lie about my age because it was illegal to even be in a bar if you were under 21. I also started drinking alcohol at that young age. (BTW I’ve never been “carded,” ever!) Because I was basically lazy I also started making excuses for not being as good as I could have been if I’d worked harder at it, because I was only 18 (another obvious lie) that I shared with my fellow musicians.

Another bit of my sordid history is that I was forced into the Musicians Union at age 15 – another story for another time.

How sad, to be 30 years old…

Fast-forward to when I was stunned on the occasion of my 30th birthday that I could no longer make the excuse of being “only” any age, for one of my many mediocrities …after all, I was 30. The point being that on that momentous and depressing occasion I decided I would no longer be depressed by reaching certain benchmark age dates and I’d accomplish this by saying “I’m going on 35” until I reached my 34th birthday, at which time I’d begin saying “I’m going on 40.”

Now you understand why I say I’m going on 95 – it’s not a lie and, in a strange way, it has a kind of life-giving magic of its own. I mean, how can my 90th birthday be a shocker when I’m already prepping for 95?

I don’t know Brad, sounds like some kinda mind trick.

How does that relate to the two Brad Cullen articles I’m hoping you’ll read? (Links below; if they don’t take you there, copy and paste them into the URL in your browser. I’ve packed them with enough scientific references that maybe your perception about the “reality” of the topics will also be changed.

If the above or the articles prompt any questions or comments please write me at brad@spiritualhealingsource.com after all, a guy going on 95 likes continual mental stimulation.
