Repeating the same Mistakes
Over and Over, Here’s How to Escape
I often shock people with my refusal to pray for them, but I’ve learned that, for me, it is far better to pray aboutthem, asking what inner conflicts are creating them to be stuck without any forward movement.
This morning I was engaged in just such a prayer about the wife of a close friend of mine and the idea came to me that she was addicted to the past. This led me to thinking about why people have such a hard time getting over their addiction to food.
In almost every commercial touting some weight loss program, is accompanied by statements such as, “eat the food you love, while losing unwanted pounds,” with pictures of sumptuous meals and even making such meals an option of the plan for only some relatively small amount per meal.
In spite of promises to the contrary, they lose weight while they’re on the program only to regain it all a short time after going off the diet plan and even more weight gain.
I suggest that the reason is that people are attracted to the programs because they have been programmed to live to eat, rather than eat to live and, therefore the program is simply perpetuating their fixed obesity programming.
Okay, we’ve gotten way off the topic of the title …or have we?
Maybe this will awaken something in you to look at any recurring things in your life that should be an indication of being stuck – in any number of ways that keep happening to you over and over …or maybe it will make you angry enough at me to do something for yourself . . .
