Faith of Enoch . . .

What’s going on on the inside?

…and How to get it (Part 6)

What follows comes from a memory of an argument in which I really wasn’t a participant, but that I overheard.

One man saying, “Are you willing to believe what the Bible says?”

The other man saying, “You can twist the Bible into saying anything you want it to say!”

With those latter words “ringing in my ears,” (again, the memory, from about forty years ago, I’ll just ask the question:

Is this what it actually Says or, What I want to make it Say?

The fine line we walk…in faith.

(That is, because he exercised a particular kind of faith, Enoch never experienced physical death and, therefore, this particular faith is possible for you and me to exercise as well!)

By faith Enoch was taken away so that he did not see death, and was not found, because God had taken him; because before he was taken he had this testimony, that he pleased God. But without this “pleasing God kind” of faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him in order to access this kind of faith.”

I researched all the references to the man Enoch in both the Old and New Testament of the Christian Bible in the original languages and, in my mind, more importantly, diligently pursued the SOURCE OF EVERYTHING (by whatever other title or name) to be enlightened and received revelation as to what exactly Was/Is the “faith of Enoch” and how to walk in it.

No enlightenment found here.

In other words, enlightenment didn’t come to me (for me) by reading.

I believe, which doesn’t make it true for anyone else, that the appropriate definition of the “Faith of Enoch” is an intimate relationship with SOURCE.

Entering and maintaining an intimate relationship with a fellow human being that you can see and touch is difficult enough, but with a “Supreme Being” most people barely believe exists?

That’s tough.

In 2013 I wrote a two part Brad Cullen series, How Can I Know I’m Right with God?  You may want to try it on for size to see if it is a fit for you. It still fits me.
