Is your “fellowship” or “church” keeping you from the truth?
Here might be a bit of truth for you and the point is that only you can determine if it’s true for you at this particular moment.
I used to think that church, or reasonable facsimile thereof, was one of the better places to get truth, so much so that I went through a course of study, late in life, to become ordained and licensed as a church pastor and wound up being a conference speaker with the largest missionary organization of its kind in the world, as well as the aide de camp of the denomination’s president and the editor of, as well as a regular contributor to its monthly magazine.
That experience brought me to the realization that churches, whether in large buildings or of the “house” variety, can be the biggest obstacles to an individual finding her or his own truth.
How can you know if your church or religious group is an obstacle for you finding the truth that is better for you?
Well, since you obviously believe (or wish you did) in a power far greater and beyond anything of which you may be consciously aware, what I’m going to say next may seem patronizing to the max, so get ready.
What awakened me to the fact that churches and religious fellowships, wherever they may congregate, may be obstacles to finding the truth for an individual, was when I realized that my ambition to be a well known and respected leader and teacher of spiritual truths, was getting in the way of my own purpose to be operating in the presence and power of I AM that, I AM – continuously – 24/7.
How that awareness came about for me is available to you right NOW, this very minute! You may not get the answer immediately, but if you are willing to trust this power, beyond your conscious ability to comprehend, enough to ask, and it’s also okay to keep on asking UNTIL you receive and are willing to wait UNTIL you get the answer for you, to the point you KNOW it’s true, it will come to you.
As I pointed out, at the end of the article (link below), “Now, that’s faith and there’s more where that came from and I’ve been given a way to get it.”
…asking appropriate questions is the way I’ve been given, is it the way for you? Isn’t it about time you found out? ASK!
I had helped build a church in Alaska as the co-pastor …it had grown to a congregation of about 300 …with “signs and wonders following,” all very exciting …yet, the few individuals among the 300 who were exhibiting real growth, change and active faith in their lives, you could count on one hand. I began asking for insight as to the reason.
The answer came in a flash – I was the problem. My ambition was creating a conflict and the reason more individuals weren’t experiencing more growth was that they were a reflection of “my” leadership. I was stuck in a system that operates in opposition to several spiritual principles and asking what question I should be asking was what set me free.
I didn’t have the full realization of how insidious the whole system of “church” can be, no matter how or where it is practiced, until I came all the way out of “her.” I’m hoping all the above will simply prompt you to ask if this message is for you.
Now then, Which Came First? For me, it’s always asking, what is the appropriate question to be asking right now? AND then asking what, if anything, to do about it?
If this was interesting I’d like to hear how and why, and if you have any questions or comments, I appreciate interaction, including a point of view that is different from mine.
