A STATISTIC YOU MAY WANT TO THINK ABOUT . . .
Because it proves you have probably forgotten something you’re supposed to remember – it may be best to tell yourself not to react, but rather approach the following calmly . . .
Because the statistic, which I’m about to remind you, has to do with numbers that can be refuted from any number of angles anyway, so what’s the point of letting them bother you?
Perhaps, worse yet, the numbers represent people who, supposedly, are currently adherents of 3 religious groups; and factions of which are in continual, sometimes, violent disagreement within their own faction or with those in other factions.
3.5 BILLION is the total number of the three, but here’s the surprise, the ancient text considered by all three to be sacred and what you would think would bind them together (snicker, snicker) believe this text was written by a man considered to be important by all three. His name in English is Moses, in Arabic (in English characters) Musa.
Why is this a surprise? Well, Moses was a Jew, and Judaism, as a whole, comprises only a paltry percentage – with 15 million adherents spread among the various factions of Judaism.
Unless my math is off, I believe that’s less than 1%. If you don’t include yourself as a member of Christianity, Islam or Judaism (in alphabetical order) and, on a personal note, I refuse to wear the label of ANY religious order, don’t count yourself out of another statistic, the estimate that there are over 2 billion others in the world who consider this ancient text to be inspiring if not sacred.
This ancient text is, in English characters, Torah or pronounced Tawrah or Taurat in Arabic. It is what comprises the first five books of the Old Testament in the Christian Bible as well as the Jewish Bible.
I, NOT from a religious perspective, but a practical one that works for me, want to point to one passage that basically says IN PLAIN ENGLISH …Don’t forget this!
Here’s the passage (from the Amplified Bible Translation)
Then Moses said to God, “Behold, when I come to the Israelites and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers (ancestors) has sent me to you,’ and they say to me, ‘What is His name?’ What shall I say to them?” God said to Moses, “I Am Who I Am”; and He said, “You shall say this to the Israelites, ‘I Am has sent me to you.’”Then God also said to Moses, “This is what you shall say to the Israelites, ‘The Lord, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob (Israel), has sent me to you.’ This is My Name forever, and this is My memorial [name] to all generations.
Question: Have you forgotten?
Note to Muslims: (from Wikipedia) in the hadith
Because he believed the Quran replaced it, Muhammad did not teach from the Torah but referenced it heavily. He did say that Moses was one of the few prophets to receive a revelation directly from God, that is, without an intervening angel. On one occasion, it is recorded that some Jews wanted Muhammad to decide how to deal with their brethren who had committed adultery.
Just imagine I AM that, I AM speaking through you – and say, “Before there was a __________ (your name) I AM that, I AM,” and see if it doesn’t change your point of view and lead you to your own burning bush experience. I AM that, I AM and so are you!
