The AMAZING POWER of Choosing

Choice opens doors.

…and the doorway that leads to it!

It has been said that awareness is the key to the door leading to myriad choices and that once we realize we have choices, we will always take the choice that leads to bettering our lives – which raises a question, “bettering our lives by whose standards?”

The reality is that, if I’m reacting to things around me, I need to notice something: I’M NOT MAKING A CHOICE, I’M REACTING.

If I’m rushing to defend what I believe, rather than proactively listening to someone else’s point of view, I’M NOT MAKING A CHOICE, I’M REACTING!

If the following is true for you, you may want to read it aloud so that you can hear it and really listen to what is being said. PEOPLE MAKE DECISIONS ON AN EMOTIONAL BASIS, THE REASONS THEY GIVE ARE INTELLECTUAL JUSTIFICATIONS FOR WHAT THEY BELIEVE IS TRUE, WHICH, FROM ONE POINT OF VIEW, TENDS TO SUGGEST EVERYTHING WE BELIEVE AS TRUTH, MAY SIMPLY BE SOMETHING WE’VE REINFORCED AS TRUE BY CONTINUALLY SPEAKING INTELLECTUAL REASONS FOR WHY WE BELIEVE IT …AND THE REASON WHY WE BELIEVE IT, MAY NOT BE THE TRUTH AT ALL, BUT SOMETHING DEEPLY HIDDEN AND ABOUT WHICH WE ARE NOT CONSCIOUS.

What reactions are in your subconscious mind?

If we are continually making choices based on such beliefs, we could say that we’re trapped in false assumptions and simply reacting as we’ve always reacted and aren’t operating in freedom, power and love, but on the basis of beliefs built on a continual stream of false premises following one after the other.

For example, since I’m going on ninety, it would be easy to get trapped into the belief that “I’m too old,” to do any number of things, except that I’m able to do them and remember I’m able to do them because I know how to change into and maintain a younger state through my own practice of mindfulness – which I share with others who want to act and feel younger …it works.

Where will your beliefs lead you?

You may also want to consider that mindfulness may mean something to me that is quite different than what mindfulness means to you – and what I share is how to make whatever it means to you even more meaningful so that it WORKS FOR YOU more effectively.
