Looking at Self Esteem or Confidence
From a Whole Different Perspective
Perhaps we can all agree that a lack of self esteem and/or confidence can be an obstacle to success and happiness and whatever those terms mean to each person, individually, can be significantly – no – VASTLY different.
Let’s introduce a question into the mix so that we can have meaningful dialogue rather than disconnect: In which “self” do you want to have confidence? If we can agree that within each of us there are variables which go from what we may consider “highs” and “lows,” this without fiddling around with terms such as “duality” and “singularity” which merely intensify the disconnect.
If someone wants to think of these different levels as separate, rather than different parts of the same, what is the harm? We’re talking perspective – points of view here.
Okay, I’ll be first to confess that when focused on some project or another, just as one example, and working at getting certain steps of the project completed, I can get impatient, irritable and act just like a grumpy old man, ”going on ninety,” as I’m wont to say, about the chronological age of this human container I occupy.
I don’t consider this to be the “higher” part of my “self.” Hating to sound patronizing, yet, feeling the urgency to make the point clearly, do you begin to see where I’m going with this?
When I’m acting the part of a grumpy old man, I have little patience to listen or respond to those around me, who deserve love, understanding and a listening ear.
When finally able to see, with some amount of objectivity, what a miserable wretch I’m being, at any particular moment and thus flip the switch, I can tell you that I have no confidence in that “lower” part of the self to be the I AM particle in which I have total faith and confidence.
What this “higher” part of I AM that, I AM, is chosen to do and, I AM enabled to say it that way because one night I stumbled onto a quote that startled me: “Many are called, but few are chosen.” Stopped in my tracks, I asked, “How does one become chosen?”
One of those rare times when I heard a voice as if it were outside of me, “I choose those who want to be chosen.” I practically yelled, “Well then, I WANT TO BE CHOSEN.”
The craziest feeling of confidence that, in this state of awareness, I can do anything has never left me. This gives me also the confidence to share it with you. If you would like the confidence of knowing you can merely flip a switch from your “lower” to your “higher” self, this is ONE way, for certain, NOT the ONLY way. I AM chosen to help you find the path that is right for YOU!
If I wake up in the morning, feeling somewhat depressed, faithless, lacking any energy or whatever, I realize that I must switch from that “lower” self to the “higher” self where miracle-working faith resides; where I can be a vessel of Love and Power and which is beyond the conscious part of the mind of this body I occupy to do anything of value for you or me.
Learning to make the switch from “low” self-esteem and self-confidence, for me, is simply getting in touch with the “higher” self where I AM resides. This is the perspective that was/is the genesis of YOU WITHOUT LIMITS. If you want to move fairly quickly from a “low” to a “high” perhaps the following will help:
